First work day

We woke up at 8 AM and went to eat breakfast. After breakfast, we had to look at the daily schedule for bus drivers, that were going to take us to our companies. At 9 AM the drivers came and picked us up at campus. We were driving for about half an hour and finally arrived at the local government office JF Macieira. It was our first day at work so they introduced us to their system and gave us paperwork. At 12 PM we had a lunch break till 2 PM. After lunch, we had to read a story about the village we are working in. The drivers picked us up at 4 PM and drove us to campus where we played cards. We had dinner at about 7 PM and after that, we went to Lidl to get supplies for the next day. At 11 PM we went to sleep.

Presentation of the companies

At 10 AM after breakfast, we went to see the companies where we are assigned to work. First, we stopped at the company where Domen and Tia work which is JF Macieira. The driver showed them where they’ll work and where they’ll have lunch. Then we went to see where Nik and Laura work. The driver also took them to see the company which is Servipoli and where they’ll have lunch. After that, we returned to campus, had lunch, and played some boarding games. The campus workers also gave us new bigger rooms to stay in. We moved and had dinner. After dinner, we played some more games and then went to bed.

Trip to Porto

Because it was All Saints day we had a day off, so we decided to call a taxi which drove us to Ribeira (Porto). We left the campus at 10 AM and arrived in Porto at about 11 AM. When we arrived us 4 and the professors split up and went in separate directions where we all wanted to go. We enjoyed walking through the crowded streets and parks. All of us took a lot of pictures at the great viewpoints. The path lead us to McDonald’s where we had lunch. Then we wanted to visit the Bolsa Palace, but we went into the wrong building, a Monument Church Of St Francis, and was still very interesting to see. We also wanted to see the famous Livraria Lello library, but the waiting line was very long, so we decided not to go. At the end of this trip, all of us enjoyed a cup of coffee and then we met up at 5 PM at the bus station where we got picked up again by taxi which took us back to campus. As we were all tired we had dinner and then went to sleep.

Airport experience and arrival

Our journey started on Sunday morning at about 6 AM when we met at the Airport of Jože Pučnik (Ljubljana). Then we said goodbye to our family members, went through check-in, left our suitcases there because they needed to be transported by another plane and then we finally took off to the Frankfurt airport at about 7 AM. Immediately after we came there, we went on a bus which drove us to the right airport terminal, but still had to walk quite a while to our next plane because this airport is the 2-nd largest in Europe where we transited. Sightly after 10 AM we took off one more time this day to reach the wanted airport in Porto. We arrived there at about 1 PM (in Portugal time), where we got picked up by one of the mobility workers who drove us to our final destination at Barcelos Mobility Friends hostel. There we were greeted with kindness at the reception and they have explained to us all we needed to know there and then we quickly put our luggage into our bungalows and went to dinner. All of us were already satisfied with the hostel after the first impression. The traveling fatigue got us at night so we went to bed quite early.
